What I work on

I improved the month-end closing process through better formulas, templates, and Excel workflows while coordinating reconciliation, adjustment, and reporting stages.

Workflow

  1. Data cut-off
  2. Bank / AP / AR reconciliation
  3. Accrual & prepaid
  4. Depreciation
  5. Tax reconciliation
  6. Trial Balance review
  7. Financial statements

Logic & technical approach

  • A closing template is used to maintain task sequence and review status.
  • Reconciliations are completed before finalizing the Trial Balance and financial statements.
  • Adjustments such as accruals, prepaid expenses, and depreciation are placed within a controlled closing sequence.
  • Excel is used for monitoring, reconciliation tools, and supporting schedules.

Accounting controls

  • Transaction cut-off must be clear.
  • Outstanding reconciliation items must be identified before final closing.
  • Adjustments must have supporting documents and review.
  • The Trial Balance must be reviewed before financial statements are finalized.

Outcome / value

The improved workflow helped complete the closing process within the 7-day target without recurring overtime.
